ABOUT THE CLUB
Northcote Jets Basketball Club was founded by Ken Peddle, and his daughter Rosemary in the 1980s at St Joseph's Primary School in Northcote. The club started with humble beginnings, fielding only one team in the Coburg domestic competition. The club quickly grew, with players joining from the wider Darebin community and surroundings.
Now, in 2023, the Northcote Jets have an impressive 24 teams, and a strong community that continues to grow. We're committed as a local sports club, to bring people together and provide opportunities for young people to learn and grow. We hold Club wide events each season, and support our players to build friendships, and have fun.
The Northcote Jets welcome players ranging in age from 7 to 19, and offer a Pocket Rocket program each season. This program provides complimentary training sessions to Under 8s & Under 10s. Our goal is to introduce young children to the joys of basketball and give them the confidence they need to try out for one of our teams in an upcoming season.
For anyone interested in watching the Northcote Jets play, games are played on Saturdays at various locations. Coburg domestic competition has two seasons - Winter (approx. April to September) and Summer (approx. October to March). No games are played during school holidays. For those who may like to join the club, training is held weekly at Thornbury High School or Narrandjerri Stadium. Expression of Interest opens towards the end of each season for the next season.
